Job Description	Research Associate Voluntary Action Network India (VANI) Location: New Delhi Last Date: 10^th January 2009 Email: info@vaniindia.org Job Title Research Associate About VANI Voluntary Action Network India (VANI) established in 1988, is an apex body of Indian NGOs with a network of 332 Federations, Organisations, Individuals and a strong base of 2500 non-governmental organizations pan India. Job Description § Be updated and collect relevant information regarding policies, laws, rules, notifications concerning the voluntary sector. § Research on implications of policy for consultations, debate generation, position papers and briefs. § Analyse the information gathered to enable informed decision making, advocacy, campaign and capacity building § Ensure budgets and timelines with respect to research projects / programmes. § Proactively receive information from programmes, members and external sources for content development. § Provide inputs for communication development and advocacy campaigns § Work in line with VANIs mandate, participate in meetings, workshops, travel § Ability to conduct research based on primary and secondary data. Desired Profile The successful candidate for this position will be an engaged individual who enjoys the challenge of working within a growing team. You will be extremely work focused with a proven track record in analytical thinking and research with inclination for social sector and be willing for extensive travel. You will also be demonstrably able to engage with and inspire individuals of differing seniority and from a variety of sectors. PhD/Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Economics or equivalent research experience, with minimum 5 years of experience and exposure to concept sharing, programmatic work and strategic initiative. Additionally, you will have good interpersonal skills with experience of working in a multi-cultural environment. A high level of computer and internet literacy is required with knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
